Political Analysts Expect China to Use Veto
Posted on Wednesday, September 03 @ 00:20:00 BST by admin

 By: Zuleikha Abdel Razig
Some Sudanese politicians interviewed by Sudan Vision expect China to use its veto power in Un Security Council during the meeting of the UNSC which would be held during this month to discuss ICC decision against President Al Bashir.

Professor of political science in Nileain University Bahaeldeen Makawi expected that China may use veto and support Sudan in stopping ICC warrant of arrest against President Al Bashir.

Makawi condemned the position taken by America and the European Union as supporting the arrest of President Al Bashir. He explained that the position they have taken can smash the Comprehensive Peace Agreement which was witnessed by the same countries.

Makawi demanded the international organizations to deal rationally and with the convention of UN which aims to achieve international peace and security. He praised the attitude of China and matches with the convention of UN.

Makawi expected tension between America and China over oil and natural resources in Sudan. He said that Oacmpo’s decision comes in the framework of the pressure exercised by Washington especially as it sees China as taking its interest in Sudan because it had started drilling petrol a long time ago through Chevron Oil Company.

Professor of strategic studies at Al Azhari University Alabas Mohammed Alamin  considered that China's special relations with Sudan constitute a short-term loss in terms of its relationships with US. He added that China which has historical  relations  with Sudan is counting on  the economic  prospects of  a country that embraces huge  resources.
