Kerry: Khartoum-Washington Cooperation Instrumental to Overcoming Difficulties
Posted on Wednesday, June 24 @ 00:15:00 UTC by admin

 Washington, SUNA
US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chief, Senator John Kerry, underscored the fundamentality of  Sudan-US cooperation  to transcending previous tense relations and looking forward to 2009 prospects, emphasizing his country's commitment and real intention to deliver humanitarian aid for propagating peace in Sudan.

Addressing a state dinner party delivered to the participants in the conference  supporting CPA implementation and other guests whose figure was 170 guests, Kerry voiced that the CPA represents the greatest agreement ever known by Africa, reflecting the Sudanese real aspiration for peace.
He further stressed that the situation in Darfur is different from the image   which the international media portray, affirming that the Sudan Government has honored what it had pledged with regard to closing the humanitarian gap following the expulsion of some NGOs out of Drafur.
Referring to his tour to Darfur and his meetings with Sudanese officials there, Kerry stated that he has sensed credibility, seriousness in peace pursuit and touched stability firsthand.
Urging Darfur movements to get on board the peace process, Senator Kerry said, " Time is opportune for those movements leaders to quit the Western capitals and work for peace," adding,  " President Obama is personally concerned with peace in Sudan." "There are prominent Republican figures and Congress members who are in agreement with Obama's stance."
Moreover, US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chief called on donors to fulfill commitments they have pledged towards CPA support, stating that the convening of Darfur Peace Supporters' conference offers a historical opportunity for supporting peace in Sudan. Kerry concluded urging Sudan's neighbors to assume a constructive role in that respect.
