Titawi, Al-Fateh Ramadan Win Sudanese Press Association's Election Uncontested

The Registrar of Work Regulations, Judge Mohammed Hassan Mahjoub announced that Dr. Moheiddin Titawi and Al-Fateh Sayed and Ramadan Ahmed Sayed won the seats of the three officers of Sudan Press Association


 (the chairman, the secretary-general and the treasurer) unopposed for a new round after candidates Mohammed Abdallah Moheiddin and Mohammed Kamil Abdurrahman had withdrawn. Casting of votes will begin today, Monday by direct voting on seats in the executive office after announcing the list of candidates for Association's new round of 2009-2014, which kicked off on Sunday morning September 10 through Sept. 11; besides voting on the 8 seats in Sudan Press and Prints Council on the same day of count.
 

Judge Mahjoub stated that the three officers of the Association as well as the members of Press Council were elected yesterday, pointing out that 51 candidates have run for the executive office,  3 for the position of the three officers, 18 in the National Council for Press and Prints. The outgoing Association is expected to hold its general assembly today, Monday at 10:00a.m. Meanwhile, the national journalist candidates will hold a press conference on the same day in front of the Office of the Registrar of Work Regulations at 11:00 a.m. to announce their platform, with the voting to be conducted at 01:00.p.m. In addition to the candidates, 8 who have already been elected, the list of national candidates for the Association's  Central Committee includes:

On his part, the Secretary-General of Sudan Press Association, Al-Fateh Sayed said the medical screening included about 1922 votes, and that 16 had failed to satisfy the conditions, pointing that voting is guaranteed to all professional journalists including the newcomers on the condition that they obtain the membership of the Press Association.
 

He affirmed that invitation had been made to all brothers in Arab world and Africa to monitor the electoral process, noting that the outgoing Association has worked for boosting relations with all regional associations, and has also carried out various service and social programs, which journalists got benefit from.
