Non-Muslims Commission Renders Khartoum as Embodying National Unity

Khartoum- Al Sammani Awadallah Non-Muslims Commission of Capital Khartoum organizes today at the Police House in Burri, Khartoum a workshop for enlightening on laws related to the rights of non-Muslims as well as those who enforce the law.
Commission member, Tut Kong told Sudan Vision that the workshop targets chiefs of Popular Committees in residential quarters, civil society organizations and tribal Sultans for realizing a balanced enforcement of such laws and stressing religious tolerance and flexibility in Khartoum.
He added that a number of similar workshops in the coming period for focusing localities top leaders, police senior officers, attorneys, legislators in national and regional parliaments will be conducted.
He stated that special workshop will be organized for deliberation on the output of those workshops, and tabling of recommendations before related government units for actualization of religious coexistence, social interaction that would render Khartoum a symbol of attractive national unity. Kong reported that the Commission is now undertaking rehabilitation of 100 inmates of Omdurman Women Prison with the aim of enabling them adopt a new course of work. He added that the study conducted by Lady Afaf Abugisasa upon Commission request, in connection with factors that cause indulging of women in native liquor brewing, revealed that bread-winning was the main drive.
Accordingly, he said, the Commission looked into alternatives that can enable such women engage in more decent and remunerative employment.
