Mustafa: Government Remarks over Mbeki Panel Report

Presidential Advisor, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail stated that the Sudanese government received a copy from AU Panel report affirming that the government will discuss it. Dr. Ismail added that the Sudanese government will participate in AU Peace and Security


summit scheduled to take place in Abuja to study the report with a delegation chaired by Vice President, Ali Osman Mohammed Taha.
Dr. Ismail told (Sudan Vision) that the government accepted this panel and will present its remarks and reservations over the report in AU Peace and Security summit on the 29th of current October in Abuja.
He affirmed that the report is considered under discussion considering that it represents a pure African group and Sudan is keen that Africa plays an important role in resolving the country's issues.
Dr. Ismail added that the government has no objection that the media relate the issue as it is dealt with in complete transparency.
Dr. Ismail, who left for Doha yesterday; said that he will hand a message from President Al Bashir to his Qatari counterpart during his two-day visit.  He lauded the significant role played by Qatar towards finding a solution to the Darfur issue.
He revealed about arrangements to hold an international conference to support Darfur before the end of the current year after reaching a peace deal in Darfur considering Darfur issue as development and services problem and without development we cannot achieve sustainable peace.
He said that Sudan hopes that the growing efforts to resolve the Darfur issue will be reflected in supporting the international conference.
