Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Mo'awia Osman Khalid, denied that the Sudan government has paid any ransom for the release of the two lady staff of the Irish Aid Organization, Goal International kidnapped in Darfur last July.
He added that if the government had wished to pay ransom the release process would not have consumed one hundred days.
Commenting on the possibility of allowing some NGOs to return for work in Sudan, Khalid said that Sudan was not biased against particular countries when it expelled organizations that had violated their mandate, breaching national laws and regulations per which humanitarian organizations were licensed for operation in the country.
He stated that many NGOs have applied for work in Sudan following the expulsion resolution, adding that some of them have actually commenced work with adherence to the set national laws.
Meanwhile, Khalid was quoted to have said that the measures undertaken by Libya regarding expatriates residence and work permits are beneficial for all aliens there. He added that the Sudanese who would travel to Libya under these new Libyan measures would allow the Sudanese authorities to monitor their positions in that country, calling on the Libyan Authorities to reconcile the positions of those who were available there before the issue of the new regulations.
