 SMC
AU Peace and Security Council will meet during a visit to Khartoum in the period of 23-25 of this month. A government informed sources told SMC that the visit of the said council members is the first one to Sudan and comes in strengthening

the country stable stances in dealing with the AU in the Sudanese issues. The meeting also comes after the meetings of the Council summit in Abuja which adopted Mbeki's report and formed a new mechanism to implement the directives of the high level team designate by the AU to follow-up the issues of peace, security, justice and reconciliation in Darfur.

The sources pointed out that the said mechanism includes the former presidents Thabo Mbeki, Abubakr Abdul Salam and Pierre Buyoya indicating that the council members will meet during the visit with a number of officials and visit Northern Darfur and Southern Sudan where they will meet the First Vice-President Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The said visit comes ahead of a new round of talks in the Qatari capital, Doha in which the AU plays a key role besides the Arab League and the State of Qatar.
