National Childhood Council Urges Parliament to Endorse Child's Bill

National Council for Childhood Care urged the parliament to endorse Child's Law (2009) which was tabled before the National Council's table by the Council of Ministers on 5th February.

The Council called for endorsing the bill before wrapping up the current round on the 22nd of December 2009.
Deputy Secretary General and Childhood Care Council, Mawlana Awatif Abdul Karim affirmed that the draft law is under study by the concerned parliament committee after it was presented before the parliament in its second stage reading, pointing that the law is amongst the bills planned to be endorsed after the Eid holidays.
Awatif stated, in an enlightenment organized by Childhood Council that 30% of the articles of 2004 laws was subject to amendments to cope  with the constitutional and legal developments.
On his part Protection and Legislative Committee of the National Childhood Council Secretary, Fath Al-Rahman Mohammed Babikir said that the new law concentrated on the definition of the child and his rights.
Child Rights Institute Manager, Yasir Saleem said that the draft bill has many positive aspects which represent gains to the children.
It is to be noted that Sudan celebrated The International Child's Day last Friday after the country achieved several gains in the field of childhood protection in the frame of its ethic commitment to the international charters and agreements.
