Defectors from SPLM Accuse the Movement’s SG as a Separatist

Khartoum – Al-Sammani Awadallah SPLM Political Bureau leaderships who defected the movement to join the NCP affirmed that the SPLM did not commit to democracy and depends on bright slogans but does not implement them on the ground.
SPLM Political Bureau defected member, Mekki Al-Nayer criticized the SPLM practices and its failure to implement its programmes, pointing out that there is violation to the institutionalism within the party. He considered the current practices of the SPLM as an attempt to escape the upcoming elections which it will definitely lose. Al-Nayer said that there are more than 3000 of White Nile State youth who were SPLM members but now more than 2000 have defected the movement and joined the NCP. Executive Secretariat member in SPLM North Sector, Mohammed Babiker said the SPLM failed to implement its goals and programmes and did not commit to Sudan’s unity programme, pointing out that 25% from the defectors were southern Sudanese youth, adding that the movement speaks about democratic practice but it does not practice inside the party. He criticized SPLM Secretary-General practices which confirm that the latter works for separation and not for unity of the country as the CPA stipulated. Babiker confirmed the organizational chaos within the movement in the South, adding that the SPLM leaders reduced the seats of youth in the general convention. On his part, NCP Youth Secretary, Dr. Obeid Allah Mohammed Obeid Allah that the youth secretariat is intending to conduct wide dialogues with opposition parties and other political entities to unify the national will.
