Posted on Tuesday, December 22 @ 00:15:00 UTC by admin

 Khartoum- (Reuter)
The National Congress Party accused the Southern authority of forgery in the voters' registration after data have showed that five Southern states have managed to register more than 100% of the voters according to the estimation of people who have the right to vote.

NCP leading figure, Ibrahim Ghandour, told Reuter that there is a clear forgery in most of the registration centers indicating to the duplication in registration besides registration of persons under the legal age adding that there are only one party in the South dominating everything and that the accusation is directed in the first place " to our brothers in the SPLM".

He said that the census in Southern Kordofan was also high due to the role of SPLM in the border area.

On their part, the officials in Southern Sudan have refused the accusations saying that the voters' official estimations were not accurate as it depended on incorrect census.

SPLM Secretary General Pagan Amom said the Elections Commission and not his party executed the registration process while the movement-leading figure Ann Itto said, "the new registration figures have proved that the census was not correct".

According to figures seen by Reuter, the officials of the Election Commission at the Unity State have registered the names of 522,196 voters who are about double of the voters with accordance to a previous census.

The South states of Warap, Lakes, Northern and Western Bahr Al- Ghazal besides one Northern state which is the Southern Kordofan have registered between 107- 140 % of the voters numbers estimated with accordance to documents prepared by the Elections Commission.

Figures published by Rift Valley Institute have showed that the southern areas managed to register only from 1-23% from the total population of the previous elections.

On its part, the National Elections Commission said that it is investigating the data of the registration voters whereas its deputy head Abdullah Ahmed Abdullah told Reuter that his Commission is trying to find out the causes of the high numbers.
