Al-Bashir: Doha Forum Last Chapter of Darfur Peace Negotiation

The President of Sudan, chairman of the ruling National Congress Party, Omar Al-Bashir pledged to do whatever necessary to achieve peace and justice across Darfur. He stressed that upcoming Doha negotiations would be the final chapter on the course


of negotiations, saying whoever will be absent in such talks he will have to wait for elections and nominate himself as a candidate to resolve the issues.
 

The Sudanese President, while addressing the concluding session of NCP political sector conference, reaffirmed the Sudanese government's commitment to holding elections at the proclaimed date and to protection to ensure free and fair elections.
 

The Sudanese President noted the necessity to exercise freedom properly to ensure all political organizations present their programs in accordance with the law, calling of legal authorities to allow those organizations full opportunity without favoring one party over the other.
 

Field Marshal, Omar Al-Bashir affirmed NCP's commitment to all peace and political agreements that were concluded with various national forces, and to working for implementing them regarding as covenants and conventions in pursuit of its ultimate goal which is to unify the nation, end conflicts, achieve national unity based on religious and national principles that will bring together all people with their different political parties and economic components so all will work for the unification of internal front starting with the stage of reintegration as a nominal objective toward the stage of alliance, coexistence among  components of political work.
 

The President affirmed NCP's rejection of going back to war, saying that those who are threatening of war or hinting at it should know that war is not an easy affair but destruction, killing, displacement and social problems. "We are resolved not to return to war no matter how long dialogue lasts or gets complicated," Al-Bashir said, adding "because that is the easiest way to arrive at solutions. There is no need to carry up arms since there is a room for dialogue except the matter that has to do with serving foreign agenda."
 

The President indicated entering into the phase of democracy and pining the destiny of the nation on who will ever assume power that should end the talk about marginalization, affirming that Sudan at this stage is prepared more than ever before for elections, indicating more than 90% of Sudanese are in safe and stabled regions "We can hold elections there," he added.
Al Bashir reiterated commitment to grant freedom to political parties to organize and exercise their political activities inside their house without seeking permission from any party other than coordination with operation authorities.
 

He pointed out the need to exercise freedom of expression, revealing arrangements for issuing press convention of honor with concerned parties to draft charter which all will abide by. Al-Bashir said the charter should stipulate the exercise of such freedom and prohibit inciting religious and racial tensions or prejudice to national security among other things.
 

Al-Bashir called on political parties to mobilize their supporters to exercise their rights and get involved in elections to ensure free and fair elections. He said the door is open for whosoever wishes to monitor without giving a chance for interference to influence the electoral process. He affirmed the state organs' commitment to provide chance to all citizens to exercise their full rights freely.
 

The President hailed the efforts by the African Union, Arab League for supporting Sudan's stances and issues as well as their ongoing efforts to solve Darfur issue, reiterating the state's commitment to assuming its responsibility for displaced persons and refugees and to removal of war consequences in order to abort political objectives aimed at trigging war to disunite the country and rob its resources.
