Head Of MSF Released After Questioning

Authorities at the attorney of Crimes Against the State on Monday released the head of the Medicins Sans Frontier (MSF), the Dutch Branch, after questioning on charges of spreading false information about alleged rape cases in Darfur, western Sudan.

However a case has been filed against him, and he is not to leave the country pending completion of investigations. Paul Foreman, the head of the MSF-Netherlands, was arrested evening Monday by the concerned authorities after the Attorney of Crimes Against the State, when a warrant was issued against him on spreading false news of cases of rape and violation of human rights in Darfur region of westerns Sudan. However upon interrogation he was not able to substantiate his claims nor could he provide any documents to this effect, Attorney, Mohamed Fareed, said. He added that a case has been filed against the head of MSF, a voluntary organization that enjoys no diplomatic immunity. Attorney Fareed said the MSF released a number of reports related to alleged cases of rapes, forceful deportation of civilians and killing of a staff of the organization. H said it published all these allegations on its website, quoted by the united nations, last month, as proof that rape cases wee still going on and that they reached 500 cases. He said, if proven, such crimes are punishable to prison and fine. Fareed said the man has been released however he has been barred from leaving the country until the completion of the interrogations.
